The drive there was such good craic and I was then landed in a town I had no clue about :/
I wandered about for a while on my own trying to find the apartment of my coach surfing friend. I rang him and to cut a long story short he told me to meet his friends at the Italian resteraunt he ran. They got me food and drink and treated me so well. It was a pleasure to meet his mates and be treated so well.

The next day I departed for Valencia. I had pre booked the bus but somehow managed to get the timetable mixed up so had to pay extra……..oooooooppppsssss.

The bus journey was long but hey it got me there and helped me see new things and meet new people which is always a bonus.

Valencia looked awesome, and the heat was ammmmazing,,,,,,,bussssssh, it hit me like a bus. I had to get to the campsite just outside Valencia to meet my Ozzy mate Andy who I had previously met up with in Paris. I wandered for a few mile then realised resistance was futiel and got a taxi. I got to the site and met Andy who is such a cool guy and really looks out for me. The campsite was epic, about 600 plus Australians there and me being one of two Irish guys there I inherited the name IRISH….HA HA

My days there consisted of swimmin in the Med at night, Tuesday consisted of going into town then a crazy night of getting wasted with my Fellow Australians in Valencia town…………….Then KABOOOOOM, La Tomatina arrived all I can say is I arrived with people and within 2 minutes of it starting they had all sank out of view…………….. The tomato fight was scary, funny, crazy and many more things…..would I do it again ? Maybe, did I enjoy it ? FOR SURE………………

That night me Michael and a few Ozzies went into town and had a few too many Mojitoes but it was an epic few days in Valencia and a time in my life that I will never ever forget Thanks guys…………..

D day for Barcelona arrived on Thursday, it was time to head into town with the guys in preparation for the train to Barca……Me and Michael left Andy and Bern etc at their hostel and headed into Valencia. We had a little walk about in the searing heat and then made our way to the train station. The station was roasting and Michael waited a little while with me and Andy then headed off to catch his plane back to Dublin. The guy was a legend and a true Irish man, nothing was too much for the kid. I find it odd how you can meet people for such a short period of time yet feel such a strong bond to then, I aint ever done the whole back packing thing before but it has taught me a lot, it truely has.

While getting on the train to Barcelona me and Andy met the craziest dude ever, he went by the name of Clint. I had seen him in the station sitting with a load of girls and thought this guys looks dope, ha ha.

Andy asked him about the surfboard he was carrying and I guess you could say the rest was history. We all got on the train to Barcelona, and we might as well have been travelling with the animals. There were no seats left so we sat by the doors, the train was rammed but the three of us turned that into a positive. The craic was positively flying out of us guys and so other people decided to join us. These two ozzy girls and one American guy decided to join in. Everything was going smoothly, even though the train was getting fuller and fuller, and then disaster struck. We had to leave the train and change to a bigger one that could accomodate us all, and it was then I noticed my Sunglasses I had cherished for years had done a runner ha ha…..I thought bugger lol but what can ya do, thats life ehhhhh. We switched to a bigger train and eventually got to Barcelona some 6 hours nafter the journey had began.

We got to our hostel and signed in etc. Me and Andy had booked but Clint had not so was otherwise homeless ha ha. We took pity on him and looked after his stuff while he got to crash on some guys floor. That night was spent in a randon park in Barca drinking gin straight and helpin the locals get hammered.
We got to bed around four in the morning and Andy woke me to say bye at about 7, THANKS :/ HA HA.
He was off to Nice and that left me and Clint to do some exploring……
The first day we spent looking around Barcelona and this is when we bumped into Miss America slash Canada the one and only Paige……We met her at the end of Las Ramblas by the Cristopher Colombus column. We wandered around for a little while around the beach etc then made it to a local bar and had a few drinks. We were then givin a free shot, then another and another lol.. The people could not have been friendlier tbhhhh. The bar was near the end of the beach towards a kiddies play park if anyone wants to hit it up on such vague directions……. We then went for food at a place on the main street called Patagonia and the adventure started from here……The guys who worked there were legends. You had the Kosovoan manager and the Italian Tom Cruise called Massimo giving it the whole cocktail bar feel…….The shots were flying around the place for free and the drink was flying out of the bottles like it was going out of fashion. We decided to get a bit wasted then go clothes shopping at H and M, awesome ha ha.
Me and Clint were fighting over the same t shirt lol but I decided to do the whole polo shirt frat boy look.
We left the shop and went to Paiges hotel to get ready. We got our gear on headed first to Patagonia where we had a few, then to and Irish bar for a few laughs. The craic was good and we met two lovely English girls and an American couple who decided to tag along….We got to a club and had a good laugh, we eventually lost Paige and the English girls and I looked after Clint who was magled to put it bluntly…….
We got a taxi home and for 45 minute we tried to figure out how to get from the train station to our hotel, which during the day took only 5 minutes…….We soon realised we were simply on the wrong side of the bus station, OOPPPPS.

Saturday was my day of dicing with death. Me and Clint headed into town and after getting some food crawled along at snails pace towards the port to meet Paige. I had been trying to cross the road at the time of the incident taking place :/
The score was me and Clint were so hung over, that hung over you cant hear proper and sounds just blur into the background ha ha. Well what happened was an ambulance that usually saves lives decided to not go aound me at the traffic lights but try and kill me. It literally missed me by a few centimetres and me and Clint were in stitches at the thought of me getting mashed by an ambulance.
We met up with Paige and her friend Josh eventually and made our way to the Dali museum. To cut a long story short we did that then went to Park Guell where I beat Clints ass on the steps up, ha ha eat my dust Australia.

That night we all hooked up at the street party by my hostel and met some American guys which was fun. There were fireworks, Tiaras and tears when I had to leave. That night was awesome and is forever in my memory.
I made it to the bus station at three in the morning after saying by to the others and again bumped into an Ozzy. He was on his way to the airport and we got talking and traded details. I walked about the Airport with a broken sandal and confettin in my hair, but it did not matter as I had the time of my life.

I learned you have to step outside your comfort zone to learn what life is really about, if I had not went away on my own I would never have had the time I had, and for that I am thankful. And to all of those people I met, Thanks, I truly mean that…….

I went to France and Spain recently. I stayed in Paris to watch the TDF and it was an amazing experience. I decided to stay in a hostel and oh boy what a time I had. I knew I was a social person, im not the cleverest person ever but I can chat to anyone and make bonds with people right away. I met two ozzies, a South African girl, a guy from Holland and a girl from Canada.

We all had an ace time and it dawned on me that people really do enjoy my company. Im not a normal person, im not boring. People enjoy being around me as im quirky and different. If this makes people happy and have fun in my presence then I love who I am…..

I dont have anything against Yanks btw just thought I would raise that point before I get in trouble lol.

Well what a day, Undiscovered Ireland is now live and a massive atomic bomb, oh no sorry, a massive volcano has erupted in Iceland and its a catastrophe. The planes cant fly we are all doomed……………
